Pebble ha rilasciato l’aggiornamento firmware 4.0 per i suoi nuovi smartwatch oltre che la nuova versione 4.0 dell’app Pebble per Android e iOS.

La nuova versione 4.0 del software Pebble va a massimizzare la capacità degli utenti di accedere ad informazioni "a colpo d’occhio" guardando il loro dispositivo al polso.

In un post sul blog aziendale, Pebble spiega di aver lavorato duramente per assicurarsi che il nuovo software possa consentire agli utenti di ottenere rapidamente le informazioni e compiere azioni più velocemente che mai. In generale, l’update include nuove funzionalità e miglioramenti generali.

Il nuovo firmware Pebble 4.0 è in distribuzione per Pebble Time, Time Steel, Time Steel, e Time Round. L’aggiornamento si puo’ fare entrando nell’app Pebble per smartphone in ‘Menu’, quindi ‘Supporto’, quindi ‘Aggiorna il tuo Pebble’. La nuova app Pebble 4.0 è invece disponibile per Android 4.3 e versioni successive e dispositivi Apple con iOS 8.0 o versioni successive.

Arrivando alle novità dell’aggiornamento, Pebble 4.0 migliora Health/Salute, con grafici delle attività e del sonno più chiari e più facili da capire.

Premendo sulla watchface è possibile dare rapide occhiate a informazioni come passi percorsi, qualità del sonno, e altre schede di attività ridisegnate. Premendo verso destra da ogni attività è possibile approfondire le informazioni e confrontare i dati attuali con i risultati dalla settimana passata.

È ora possibile utilizzare tutti i quattro tasti per avviare rapidamente qualsiasi applicazione preferita che si desidera premendo e tenendo premuto il tasto. Inoltre, nuove animazioni di sistema rendono l’interfaccia migliore.

Premendo il pulsante di selezione dalla watchface si accede al nuovo menu rapido.

In generale, sul display dei dispositivi Pebble si vedranno più elementi contemporaneamente, e tramite le anteprime si potra’ accedere ad informazioni senza aprire un’applicazione.

Come altre applicazioni per Pebble, l’applicazione Impostazioni Pebble può ora essere riordinata toccando e trascinandola nella scheda Applicazioni dell’app mobile. Le modifiche verranno sincronizzate con il menu di avvio sull’orologio.

Gli utenti con un orologio Pebble accoppiato con un dispositivo iOS possono grazie all’aggiornamento 4.0 gestire le email in entrata (al momento solo da Gmail), e possono essere create delle risposte predefinite personalizzate e sono supportate anche le risposte vocali. La lista delle azioni compatibili comprende Elimina, Archivia, Segna come Letto, Rispondi a tutti.

Le funzioni di gestione delle mail sono gia’ disponibili per i proprietari di dispositivi Android da un po’, e Pebble spiega il ritardo cosi’: "le notifiche e-mail e le risposte di testo sono un po’ più facili da implementare per gli utenti Android, grazie alla filosofia più aperta del sistema operativo, ma stiamo sempre lavorando per rendere l’esperienza di Pebble coerente per entrambe le piattaforme mobili.".

Pebble Firmware 4.0 è compatibile con Pebble Time, Pebble Time Steel, Pebble Time Round, e i prossimi Pebble della serie 2016 (Pebble 2 e Time 2). La versione 3.12.2 resta per Pebble Classic e Pebble Steel.
